In Jane Eyre, Jane’s idea of morality is very different from the beginning of the book compared to the end of the book. Jane’s perception of morality changed from her experience at the Lowood School. For example, when Helen gets beaten for messing up, Jane asks her why she didn’t react, Before, Jane would have rebelled against the oppressing force. After going to the Lowood school she would take the abuse without raising a finger. This was probably her Aunt’s ultimate goal, and she succeeded in completely altering Jane’s view of morality. This make me wonder. Was Jane’s spirit crushed? How would Jane be like if she had not attended the school and is the life she decides to live the life she wants, or the life she has been led to believe she wants?
